When we last caught up with local enthusiast Dean Crook and his wicked Pro Tourer Mazda RX3 last month (See prev post here), the car was basically a freshly painted rolling chassis with the big 20B 3-rotor nestled in the smoothed & tubbed-out engine bay.
Since that time Dean has been working hard into the night, reassembling the car, fitting all exterior panels and trims as well as finalising the engine oiling and cooling systems and preparing the car for engineering & emissions testing.
This week the RX3 was shipped off to the guys at Insight Motorsports where the car was strapped onto the dyno to have an emissions-friendly base tune configured to help the car pass the stringent ADR37-01 Emissions required for an ICV Certificate (Individually Constructed Vehicle).
Now that the car's exterior is fully assembled we can all finally start to absorb the awesomeness of this build. While it's not got the wild, out-there looks of some on the other high-end custom build RX3s out there at the moment, that's not what Dean wanted. Rather a sleek, refined and well built all-rounder is what was planned from the beginning and if you ask us, that's exactly what has been achieved here.
With the interior trim also nearing completion in the capable hands of local talent Trims By Bec, the build is definitely on the home stretch now and if all goes to plan in the coming weeks for Dean it won't be long at all until we see this awesome machine cruising the streets of the Illawarra.
Stay tuned for more updates on the build as it progresses. For now though be sure to check out the Build Gallery page HERE
