The Autorama Illawarra Car & Bike Expo, held at the East Berkeley Sports Club is one of the regions premiere car & bike shows.
Now in its third year, the 2015 event held on the first of February was by far the biggest and best yet, with some 250+ cars & bikes on display, over 3,000 people through the gates and $28,000 raised for charities including Lifeline Suicide Prevention.
The variety of machines on show was fantastic, with everything from American & Aussie muscle cars, Hot Rods, Classic restos, Japanese performance cars & even a few elite show and competition burnout cars thrown in for good measure. Also in attendance were several car clubs including but not limited to the NSW Muscle Car Assosiation and devoted Commodore members of Club VE
Throughout the day the weather was great and the atmosphere even better! Once the entrants and stalls were all set up and the gates were opened to the public it didn't take lok for the venue to fill up with enthusiasts and their families, both local and out of towners, keen to check out the cars and bikes on show and enjoy the numerous activities going on.
With the show having a strong focus on family fun since the beginning there was plenty of fun things to see and do, especially for the little ones with a massive jumping castle and slide, petting zoo, karate show as well as an awesome local band Scared Stiff playing throughout the day.
No matter what your age, there really was something for everyone at Autorama Illawarra and that's something that the event organisers and volunteers that made it all happen should be very proud of...
At the end of the massive day the event organisers, the committee of eight volunteers as well as the 60 volunteer staff on the day and all of the vendors, entrants should be congratulated for putting on one ripper of a show!
And to all of those who supported the event by attending, we thank you also for helping to keep this awesome event growing.
A special thanks must go out to the various groups that help to make this event happen each year, those include Lifeline, Berkeley Community Center, Unanderra Public School and the Bikers Against Child Abuse (B.A.C.A) group, all of whom receive something back in return with all moneys raised at this local event staying local.
Once the calm after the store arrives the committee will meet to officially thank everyone involved as well announce the total funds raised and where and how it will be spent by each charity.
