Brashernats is without a doubt one of, if not the premiere burnout comp in the country and when the Sydney round rolled into town last weekend, a handfull of the Illawarra's finest tyre torturing machines headed out to Sydney Dragway to thrash it out for the fans.
IMCC supporters Retro Tyres had several sponsored cars in attendance for the event, including Nik Fraser in the MELTEM Corolla who took out honors for 'Best Tip-in' with a few smokey 360s on entry. Nik continued to put on one hell of a show for the crowd, whipping the little Corolla around the pad like a pro.
Thomas Baz destroyed two sets of tyres in spectacular fashion in his blown Calais JSTWCH. His second effort for the day saw some exciting fire works out the back of the car and littered around the pad, making for an awesome spectacle as you can see in this clip below.
Unfortunately for Shawn Karn, what started out as a solid entry in KARNGE quickly turned sour with the car getting out of shape and Shawn unable to recover before tagging the wall with both the front and rear end of the car.
Thankfully Shawn is ok and the hit was not as bad as it looks on the footage with repairs are already underway. Knowing what Shawn and his crew are like we'll see this blown beast back on the pad, tearing it up in no time!
Another Corolla flying the Retro Tyres flag on the day was Justin 'DUFMAN' Duff. Running an angry cammed-up LS1 the little green KE55 was a solid performer, proving that you don't need a crazy setup to put on a good show.
Craig 'GUSBOY' Ingold came out with his now blinged-up Hilux, featuring a new tunnel ram setup on the LS1 combo which certainly did the job on the day.
Not only did Gus put on an exceptional show given the cars basic setup, he also had an absolute ball in the process as you can tell by the huge smile on his face in the snap below as he cruises past the media guys, giving out high-fives mid session.
A burnout comp just wouldn't be the same without a V8-powered Gemini and Jesse Naughton filled that spot on Sunday in SOFRYD.
Looking surprisingly relaxed behind the wheel as he whipped the car around the pad, Jesse did the Illawarra proud with his efforts and the crowd loved it!
After spending the past few weeks chasing mechanical gremlins in his surpercharged VY Commodore, Cameron Williams got it all sorted just in time for the event.
H8TYRZ not only got the job done but went on to give one of its best performance to date, the car sounding super crisp!
Bruiser Coleman made it into the finals in the aspirated class and put the pressure on a few of the blown cars too with his performance in the high-revving YBBLWN VK
And last but certainly not least, Fuelworx boss-man Phil Kerjean had the crowd on their feet from the word GO when he squashed the loud pedal in the TUFFST wagon, filling the pad with smoke in an instant...
Unfortunately though, an engine fire early in his first set would see Phil wisely pull the pin to save the car from further damage.
As a small consolation though, TUFFST did manage to score Top Holden in the show & shine and Phil was able to kick back for the rest of the day and enjoy the event
Overall the boys put on one hell of a performance and showed everyone the the Illawarra is home to some of the toughest burnout cars and competitors around!
We'd like to thank Firme Photography & Torque Media for the snaps and Fast Performance Videos for the awesome motion shots. These guys captured a heap more of the action on the day so be sure to check out their pages!
