Local Enthusiasts Supporting A Good Cause - Killer Rides Winter Warm-up Charity Meet

July 1, 2015 Jason Gynn

Everyone knows that the residents of the Illawarra and are some of the most generous and involved when it comes to supporting charitable events and organisations. The motoring enthusiasts of the region certainly like to get involved and help out as much as possible, whenever and wherever the call is put out and tonight's Winter Warm-up charity meet, organised by the good folks at Killer Rides was a perfect example of that.

Working with the team at the Wollongong Homeless Hub, the meet was put on in an effort to encourage locals to donate any articles of clothing, blankets and the like which will be distributed to those in need who are living on the street or doing it tough.

Despite the short time period in which the meet was organised in, the guys saw a positive turnout of locals keen to help out as much as they could.

Offering up donations of bags upon bags full of warm clothing, blankets, foot ware and much more that by the end of the night would equate to half a truck full.

Helping to draw some extra attention to the cause, there was a nice selection of slick machines parked up which gave everyone something to gawk at while they chatted away, coffee in hand.

Instilling positive values in the younger generation is an important thing and so it was great to see many of those who attended getting the kids involved. If anything they got to check out some cool cars, help out some people in need and in most cases even got to have McDonalds for dinner... We recon that's a win in any kids book!

Very happy and overwhelmed with the generosity displayed, the enthusiastic crew from the Wollongong Homeless Hub passed on their thanks to everyone who attended and made a donation. The clothing and goods will go a long way in helping the needy get through the bitter cold winter we're experiencing and make things just that little bit more comfortable.
