The usually quite area surrounding the Australian Motorlife Museum in Dapto awoke tothe sound of the buzz of some 20-plus rotary-powered vehicles converging on Integral Energy Recreation Park for a fund raising BBQ meet organised by the Rotary Enthusiasts International group and local Rotors In The Gong crew.
In an effort to help raise funds for some families doing it tough, the group had been organising the small, intimate meet for the past few weeks and the result was a turnout of tough cars who's owners were more than willing to put their hands in their pockets for a good cause.
There was a great mix of models in attendance but there was one particular grouping that caught us all by surprise...
That being the seven 808 wagons that rocked up (we had one late arrival), all in varying different guises, from slightly modified cruisers to mini-tubbed machines
It wasn't just all Mazdas either, with a few examples from other manufacturers on display including Saso's wicked 13BT Gemini, side-pipe and all as well as a neat Datsun 1600
Overall, although we could only hand around for a short time it looked to be a successful and fun meet, especially with the exceptional weather. Even the youngsters loved it!
Afterwards a few of the guys headed down south for a bit of a cruise before calling it a day to relax before the start of another working week... Gotta pay the bills some how...
