No matter which way you look at it and no matter who you talk to these days, if you're a modified car enthusiasts in the Illawarra and surrounding areas to the north and south you know that once a month, Bunnings Warrawong is the place to be on that second Saturday of the month!
In the almost 12 months the IMCC has been involved, these Monthly Meets have gone from strength-to-strength and to know that the word has gotten around and that these meets have quickly become a must-see thing in the car scene is a great feeling. Now, as the warmer weather returns, we're looking forward to more awesome nights out with frinds and family, enjoying our hobby and passion.
This past weekend's meet, our first meet for spring was another success with the venue once again packed to capacity. By the 6pm start time the main area was already filled with quality machines; pretty much a necessity these days in order to secure a prime parking spot.
By midway through the night, every nook and cranny of the parking lot was in use some way or another with some attendees having to lap several times before an open spot could be found.
As always we were treated to some spectacular examples of tough street cars like this immaculate HK Monaro...
Always a crowd favorite, Joe Tanti's crazy blown Beetle once again had jaws on the floor throughout the night.
It was also great to see a few more local Mini's out and about, 5 or 6 in fact getting in on the action and adding to the huge variety of different makes and models parked up.
A car that certainly caught out eye on the night was this sexy LC. The style, the colour combo; everything about it was just plain awesome! Hopefully we can get in touch with the owner to organise a feature shoot some time soon...
Each month we're also seeing more and more of the Sydney boys heading down for the night to see what all the fuss is about. Their reactions all the same, vowing to come back again with their mates...
It's also great to see more and more tidy late model examples popping up each month like this sleek-looking MX5.
Old or new, it doesn't matter...We're all car enthusiasts and everyone's welcome!
Once again we'd like to thank everyone for their good behavior, keeping everything cool, calm and collected and ensuring rubbish was put in it's place. While we did have to clean up after a few lazy buggers, considering we've lost a number of bins this months due to the changes with Westfield management, it wasn't too bad.
As we now count down the days 'till daylight savings kicks in, we look forward to more exciting times ahead with some big things planned for the coming months including some ripper local cruises. Stay tuned and see you all again next month!
Until then, be sure to head over to the event gallery page HERE and check out the rest of the photos from the weekend.
