Once again local car enthusiasts of the Illawarra and surrounding areas and their families have blown us away with their support. We could not have asked for better weather on the day and the turnout for our 2nd Annual Christmas Cruise was fantastic!
Kicking things off at at the Albion Park Rail meet point, some 80+ cars rocked up, keen-as-mustard to get on the road and cruise in celebration of another awesome year for the local car scene.
With the cruise open to all makes and models we had a great variety of machines in attendance, both old school and future classics. Plenty of familiar faces mixing it up with first-timers evidence of the continual growth and support for these kind of enthusiast events.
It was great to see plenty of Santa hats and Christmas-themed apparel worn throughout the group, following our requests to help bring some some extra Xmas cheer to everyone and have a bit of a laugh.
With the go-ahead given to begin the roll-out everyone geared-up for the cruise out to Kiama via the winding roads through Jamberoo.
Being such a large group it was inevitable that some would get split up however, most managed to keep together, forming a few mini convoys.
Groups of brightly-colored cars rumbling through the streets always makes for a great sight.
It was great to see so many family groups making a day of it and enjoying themselves. After all, that's what these cruises are all about.
As usual when we roll up in Kiama lighthouse on a weekend the group got plenty of attention but it was only a quick stop this time to re-group before heading back out onto the road, continuing the cruise to our destination at Kanahooka Point.
One of our favorite things to come from cruises like this are the driving shots when we have a chance to grab them, because who doesn't LOVE a good rolling shot...?
We managed to get a few cool ones during the last leg of the cruise but with the groups spreading out so much and the heavy Sunday traffic it proved difficult to catch up with some.
Rolling into Kanahooka Point right on lunch time everyone was ready for a feed, including us.
Luckily our tong-master Chris and some of our extended event team were on hand prior to set up and get the BBQ cranking for a mad Sausage Sizzle that went down just right!
Thanks to the efforts of our dedicated crew and your support, we managed to raise $840 to add towards our collection for the Wollongong Hospital Children's Ward. That takes our total raised to just over $1700, not including the additional funds raised from the Charity Raffle so far.
Once bellies were filled it was time to kick back and relax for a bit after a busy morning.
We'd like to send out a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported the event, whether you stayed for the whole thing or just came for the cruise.
We organise these kind of things in an effort to bring everyone together and to help out causes in the local community and when we get turnouts like this and hear the great feedback from everyone it certainly makes the late nights and hard work worth while!
So please give yourselves a big pat on the back! The 2nd Annual IMCC Christmas Cruise was a great success and it's been an awesome year for IMCC the local car scene as a whole and we hope you all have an enjoyable break with your families and a very Merry Christmas!
