As one of the most anticipated car and bike events on the local calendar, the annual Autorama Illawarra never ceases to impress and as we take a look back at this year's event, it seems that trend is set to continue!
Although some early morning light precipitation may have scared off a few car owners from attending, the day ended up being amazing with bright blue skys and not a rain cloud in sight.
With the show focused on raising important funds for Lifeline South Coast it was great to see local and out of town enthusiasts come down in groups to support the show, some of them lucky enough to walk away with a stack of awards for their efforts like the guys from Wayne Penrose VW who collected several trophys.
On thing we noticed about this year's event was that there was an abundance of restored classics on show, much more than previous years in fact, we'd say that they would have made up the majority of the shows entrants.
There certainly was some clean examples out there like this gorgeous Indy O range HG GTS Monaro.
As always there was a few quirky cars on show which caught our attention like this rod with a triple-carb, mechanically-injected, quad blow through turbo setup that had a lot of people scratching their heads.
new school muscle was also well represented, especially on the Ford side of things with several modified late model Falcons parked up with varying stages of mods.
Once car that got a lot of attention was this Ultima Sports GTR. The British super car was running a tough 7.0 litre LS7 V8 making it sound just as tough as it looked!
Our pick of the day though had to be this ratted-out truck. it just screamed of character both inside and out and would no doubt get a LOT of attention when out cruising! Running an injected Holden 5 litre up front it would probably drive quite nice with just enough boogy to get her moving.
Overall we'd call the event another great success for all those involved and we hope that the funds raised, like previous years will be significant!
We had an awesome day out and took a load of photos so be sure to head over to the Event Gallery page HERE to check them out.
