It was pretty much a known fact that as we start to head towards the warmer months and the upgrades to new Plaza venue are completed that things would really start to ramp up at the IMCC Monthly Meets and if the August meet is anything to go by, we're in for some truely awesome nights ahead!
Cars streamed into the Warrawong Plaza roof-top car park venue seemingly all night from 6pm onwards, as always a nice mix of makes and models, old and new.
This month we had the guys from Burnout Outlaws out doing some promotional stuff for their even this weekend. Unfortunately Phill Kerjean had hurt the engine in his crazy blown wagon so he was unable to do any happy laps as we'd planned but alas, with a few offsiders in attendance as part of the display it was still a great site and we we're happy to have them out for the night.
Another awesome treat for the night which actually only come about at the last minute, was having Kylie & Adam Perry's show-stopping 'Tail Spin' project on display.
The car which has undergone hundreds on hours of work at the hands of well known and respected local enthusiasts and car builder Howard Astill.
Having this elite machine along as part of our meet was a HUGE thing for us and for many others being that this was the only the second time the car had been displayed to the public after MotorEx Melbourne last month. What's even cooler is that there is plans to bring it back possibly for the Oct meet so the car can be shown off properly.
Every time we're wondering around the meets it never ceases to amaze us the automotive awesomeness that is present in the Illawarra. The cars that call this region home are certainly up there with the best of them and that's just one of the many reasons why we work so hard to showcase our local scene for the world to see.
It's the great diversity and the respect we show eachother too that helps set the Illawarra car scene apart from the rest. old school, late model, home grown or import, we're all in it together.
And when we say 'we're all in it together', that means everyone who helps shape our scene.
At a time where all eyes are on us for both good and bad reasons, with your help we're trying to develop these meets and our local scene to be a positive example of car enthusiasts and the greater community working together.
We've seen before how quickly the car scene can for the most part disappear and that's something we don't want to happen again, for the younger generation's sake.
By acting responsible and supporting these meets and IMCC you're ensuring that we'll be able to enjoy seeing tough cars like this rolling the streets for many years to come! That's something we're sure we can all agree upon.
Moving into the warmer weather we've got some big plans coming into action which we're hoping will add to the cool atmosphere and take things to the next level.
More food and drink vendors on site, trade stands, show car displays, product demos as well as our own upcoming range of IMCC merchandise stand, charity fund raising and even some extra activities for the kids are all on the cards for the near future.
So if you're enjoying the part few meets as they are now, just wait 'till summer kicks in! the Illawarra is going to be the place to be on that second Saturday of every month! Trust us.
