This was a show that only popped up on our radar a few weeks ago, for some reason or other it had slipped past us but we're sure glad that we caught wind of it in the end as the Rohans Hot Rod Association Hot Rod show was one of the most vibrant local events we've attended to date!
As usual traffic into Kiama was at a crawl as we headed in for a quick look which left us no choice but to park up near the main road and walk in. However crappy that may have been, the sight when we rounded the corner at the top of the hill overlooking the Black Beach was nothing short of spectacular.
Bright eye-catching colour and chrome as far as the eye can see, the large grass area was packed to the brim with beautifully-presented rods and classic cars and a huge crowd of onlookers.
While for obvious reasons hot rods were well represented at the show but there was a lot of other american and Aussie muscle cars and classics about the place too, adding some great variety.
Along with the classic cars there was tonnes of classic fashion around the place too, many groups really getting into the show spirit and helping to bring an old-school vibe and atmosphere to the event.
From the time we arrived to the time we left people were streaming into the venue to get a close-up look at the awesome machines on show.
Helped no doubt by the various market stalls scattered around the place. A GREAT idea by the organisers to get people into the show and offer something more than just the usual static displays
The quality was so high though, even if it was no market stalls we're sure that no one would have been complaining.!
It was definitely an event that we will be returning to again next year, hopefully for longer than the 45 mins we had to spend this time...
If you didn't happen to get out to the event you can check out a good selection of what was on show by heading over to the Event gallery page HERE.
