Now in its second year, the annual South Coast Showdown event saw Kiama's picturesque Black Beach reserve inundated with a high standard of modified motoring masterpieces.
Not only was there an abundance of cars and bikes on show, the variety of cars was outstanding and provided the show attendees with a buffet of bad-assery; a kind of an all-you-can-eat of automotive awesomeness! Hot Rods, Aussie and American Muscle, classic Japanese, resto-mod, exotics...It was all there.
One of the great things about the South Coast Showdown events is that they're not just for the big kids either with event organisers encouraging people to bring the whole family down for the day to enjoy the sights and sounds of what the show and the awesome location has to offer.
Seeing people cruising around the show, getting their kids involved is a great thing to witness and gives us all a positive outlook for the future of the car scene in this county.
The quality on show at this year's event was sensational with many elite show cars like Aaron Gregory's slammed '51 Pickup which we couldn't help but stare at every time we were in it's vicinity.
As the event's major sponsor, local white-walling gurus Retro Tyres had a host of customer cars on display showing off their handywork.
Walking through the show you'd be hard-pressed to find a car that Lync and his crew haven't had their way with, applying their perfected finishing touch to many quality local and out of town builds; the quality finish and experience being highly sought after by enthusiasts.
There was no shortage of lowriders at the event. Slammed on the ground, dragging, bouncing and even hopping around, drawing bags of attention on their arrival to the venue.
A few examples like the Lincoln below which was equipped with some serious hydraulic suspension were some of the wildest examples we've seen in Australia; the engineering and detail showcased blowing the punters away. They were definitely some of the coolest cars on show!
At the end of the day, everyone involved with the event should give themselves a big pat on the back as they have delivered on their promise yet again, putting on a great show. The feedback we've heard since Saturday has certainly been very positive and one thing's for sure, we're looking forward to next year's event!
